The Wenatchee Wild Hockey Academy’s teams took on busy schedules this past weekend, with two of the three squaring off for multiple games over a three-day stretch. One of the two got a jump on its Canadian Sport School Hockey League schedule, facing off against an in-state rival on the circuit.

The 16-and-Under club squared off with STAR Academy at Town Toyota Center and withstood an early battle Friday before STAR outlasted them for an 8-4 win Friday. Liam Rebillaco scored two goals and an assist in that game, and goaltender Reed Hickman made 67 saves. Rebillaco and Hunter McIntosh scored third-period goals Saturday to erase a third-period STAR lead before the visitors scored three goals in the final seven minutes for a 6-3 win, and Hickman impressed again with 72 Wenatchee saves Sunday in a 5-3 STAR victory.

The Wenatchee 14U team spent its weekend at the annual CCM tournament in Denver, Colorado, battling the Littleton Hawks and Wasatch Renegades to back-to-back shootouts Friday before dropping decisions to the Colorado Rampage and Vegas Jr. Golden Knights on Saturday. The 18U team played just one game, a 4-2 Seattle Jr. Kraken victory at the Kraken Community Iceplex in Seattle.

This weekend is a quieter one for the Academy programs, with only the 16U team in action – this weekend marks the second of six straight weekends of CSSHL action as the club heads on the road to the Vancouver, British Columbia metro. The North Shore Warriors welcome the Wild 16U team Friday afternoon, ahead of visits to Burnaby Winter Club and Delta Hockey Academy on Saturday and Sunday.
